Bucks County Playhouse, Performer gets engaged to childhood crush in front of theater
FHPR received a call from a producer at CBS Philly on the Friday before Valentine’s Day 2022 about a story she wanted to tell for Valentine’s Day. Our client, the Bucks County Playhouse, had shared a story on social media about Broadway performer Christy Altomare. She was starring in Anastasia when the pandemic started, returned home to Bucks County and performed a solo concert at the Bucks County Playhouse. Her middle school friend and crush, Chris Crook, and his family happened to be in the audience. They waited for her at the stage door after the show to say hello. It was there they learned they were both single. Turns out Christy had also been Chris’s crush, so he took the opportunity to reconnect, and the two began dating shortly after. About a year later, on February 5, Chris proposed to Christy in front of the Playhouse.
Because of our relationship with this producer, she knew that we represent the Bucks County Playhouse. She knew she could call us, and we’d help her get the story. And that’s exactly what we did. On Sunday, two days after her initial call, Christy and Chris met CBS reporter Jasmine Payoute and a cameraperson inside the Playhouse. Their story was told just in time for Valentine’s Day at the place where they re-met and got engaged. FHPR was happy to coordinate this shoot and be on site to make sure everything ran smoothly.
A perfect connection to Valentine’s Day! The story has been running on CBS and CW in the Philadelphia market multiple times throughout the night, morning, and still going today! Our media connections helped yield more publicity for our client, the Bucks County Playhouse!
