Delaware Canal Towpath Named PA Trail of the Year
The Friends of the Delaware Canal was honored that the Delaware Canal Towpath was named the 2022 PA Trail of the Year. During the ceremony, a noisy disruption turned out to be great news.
First Day of School Red Carpet Arrival for Philadelphia Performing Arts Charter School
When our client mentioned this wonderful back to school “ceremony” for incoming kindergarten students, we thought it was a perfect event for TV coverage. Philadelphia Performing Arts Charter School, a String Theory School, believes the first day of kindergarten should be a special one, a day kids and parents will always remember.
Media Connection Leads to Big Things for Children’s Playhouse
Bucks County Playhouse, Performer gets engaged to childhood crush in front of theater
FHPR received a call from a producer at CBS Philly on the Friday before Valentine’s Day 2022 about a story she wanted to tell for Valentine’s Day. Our client, the Bucks County Playhouse, had shared a story on social media about Broadway performer Christy Altomare. She was starring in Anastasia when the pandemic started, returned home to Bucks County and performed a solo concert at the Bucks County Playhouse. Her middle school friend and crush, Chris Crook, and his family happened to be in the audience. They waited for her at the stage door after the show to say hello. It was there they learned they were both single. Turns out Christy had also been Chris’s crush, so he took the opportunity to reconnect, and the two began dating shortly after. About a year later, on February 5, Chris proposed to Christy in front of the Playhouse.
String Theory Charter Schools, Nutcracker returns featuring a full cast of students from various neighborhoods in the City of Philadelphia
Every year, Philadelphia Performing Arts: A String Theory Charter School puts on the most professional Nutcracker ballet. Of course, not during COVID … so coming back this year felt very special to the students and to Ballet Instructor/Director Natalia Charova. She sent an e-mail asking if we could try to get TV coverage because Nutcracker returned this year and also there are nine boys in the production. NINE! That’s unheard of. Usually if they had one or two boys, they were thrilled. Nine was unheard of! We arranged for an Open Rehearsal for Press Only and students, dressed in beautiful costumes, rehearsed.
After seven months of being closed during the Pandemic, the Playhouse, following CDC and PA Guidelines, re-opened for a Halloween-themed concert
After seven months of being closed during the Pandemic, the Playhouse, following CDC and PA Guidelines, re-opened for a Halloween-themed concert featuring three very talented performers who either sang solo or distanced when on the stage. It was our responsibility to share the information with the press, in a delicate way, since the Playhouse was one of the first theaters to open.
This was all last-minute, so we didn’t have much time to strategize.
We created “PHL 17 in Your Neighborhood”
PHL 17 was expanding their “Morning News” program and hired our firm to help publicize it. Our agreement was for three months, then it was extended another three months and then another three months, until the Pandemic. Our goal was to increase awareness of the program and we had the idea to create a regular segment that would attract much attention with viewers.

“I had the great pleasure of working for one of the best Broadway press agents of them all, Arthur Cantor. He taught me a lot, but I have to say working with Sharla, Hope and everyone at FHPR has taught me even more. It’s rare that you find the combination of old-time strategic thinking combined with an up-to-the minute understanding of social media and how it can all work together.”
